BIDDEFORD – The Auburn Suburban Little League Senior Softball All-Stars, who dropped their first game at State Senior Softball Tournament, remained alive with 2 victories.

Auburn, which lost to Biddeford 12-4 in its opener Saturday, edged Old Town 2-1 Sunday as Katelyn Chamberlain pitched superbly. She and Sam Nickerson provided the offensive spark.

Monday, Suburban outslugged Deering 13-11, rallying for 7 runs in the 7th inning. Chamberlain’s 2-run triple was the big blow. Darcy Howard drove in 4 runs. Sam Morency scored 3 times. Kendra Butcher was the winning hurler and aided her cause with timely hitting. Kate Williams collected 3 hits for Deering. Kate Knight added a pair.

Auburn had to beat Biddeford twice to claim the state title. The first championship round game was scheduled Tuesday, and the “if” game is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Auburn Suburban’s Junior Division baseball team was eliminated from the state tourney at Bangor Monday, dropping a 5-1 decision to South Portland National as Will Furbush hurled a 3-hitter.
