RUMFORD – The Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street will sponsor a week of activities for children kindergarten through grade seven from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 through 6.

The program, “Club Can-Do, Kids Called to Care,” has as a mascot Can-Do Kangaroo, a puppet who introduces the children to all the activities.

Each day will start with an opening assembly, followed by crafts, led by Melissa Munzner; music, Judith Kuhn; classes for various age groups, Dee Holman and Dot Wing; recreation, members of the church; Bible stories, read by members of the church in native costumes; snacks, prepared by Judith Kuhn; and a closing assembly.

The Bible stories will feature outstanding people in the Bible. A room in the church will be changed each day to resemble the locations of each story.

The finale will be a supper at 5:30 p.m. Friday for the children and their families. Children will present a short program, which will include singing, reciting memory verses, showing the craft projects and recounting the Bible stories. Prizes will be awarded.

Points will be given Tuesday through Friday for attending, bringing another child, wearing the color of the day, bringing nonperishable food or soda cans/bottles and saying the memory verses.

The week is open to any child in the community, visitor or resident. Transportation will be provided if necessary. For more information about the program or activities, call Holman at 369-0746.
