WILTON – The Cougar Open Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 13 at Wilson Lake Country Club. Sponsored by the Farmington Area Alumni Association, the event benefits the scholarship fund for Mt. Blue High School graduates. It costs $55 per player, which includes green fees, golf cart, lunch and prizes. Prizes will include low gross, low net, closest to pin and longest drive. Lion King’ prowls state park

WELD – Mount Blue State Park will feature the movie “The Lion King” at 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, in the amphitheater. The park’s program on Saturday, July 31, features comic Charlie Who, a one-man show of fast-paced humor that includes magic and music. It also begins at 8 p.m. in the amphitheater.

Mission director to speak in Wilton

WILTON – The Rev. Bandaru Ebenezer of India, will discuss his work at the East Wilton Union Church on Sunday, Aug. 1, at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour and also at the 10:45 a.m. worship service.

He is executive director of Metropolitan Mission in Andhra Pradesh, a state with more than 66 million people. His mission’s work includes evangelistic efforts, church planting, tailoring units, children’s home ministry, adult literacy, a primary school, prayer huts and well drilling for drinking water. Bible school

STARKS – The annual Vacation Bible School at Camp at the Eastward on the West Mills Road will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, Aug. 2-6. The theme this year is “Son Games” and it is held for ages 5 to 12. Transportation is available locally. Children and families are also welcome for lunch. The week is sponsored by the Starks and West Mills Community Churches, along with Clinton Presbyterian Church and Camp at the Eastward.
