WILTON – Longtime Wilton Police Chief James Parker plans to retire and has given his resignation to Town Manager Peter Neilsen.
The resignation is going before selectmen Tuesday and is effective Sept. 7. Parker turns 62 on Aug. 19. He has been a sworn member of the Wilton Police Department since November 1971, according to the department’s Web site.
Parker has been police chief since April 1978.
The chief is a member of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association and is a part-time deputy sheriff in Franklin County.
