NEW GLOUCESTER – The annual Sabbathday Lake Grange summer fair and craft sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Grange Hall, Route 26.

The sale will include knitted and crocheted items, home-cooked foods, old books and a variety of crafts. There also will be a coffee shop and snack bar.

Anyone interested in reserving a table to sell their crafts may call Berneice Edwards, 998-4731, or Allison Strout, 926-4179.

Saturday speaker

TURNER – The Turner Museum and Historical Association will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Turner Town Office when Eric Goodwin will speak about the Nezinscot River clean-up program and his personal efforts to restore it to better quality.

The public is welcome. Those attending are invited to bring memorabilia about the river to share.

Widow Fellowship

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widow Fellowship will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at the Lisbon Untied Methodist church. At 11:45, members will depart for Beaver Park for a picnic lunch. Each person is to bring sandwich and drink. Other food will be provided.

All interested widows in the area are invited to attend. The group meets the first Monday of each month unless a holiday, then they meet the second Monday.

Vacation school

LEWISTON – The South Lewiston Baptist Church will hold its annual Vacation Bible School on Monday through Friday, Aug. 2 to 6. This year’s theme is “Lava Lava Island.” The school will be held from 9 to 11:45 a.m. for children age 6 to 10. The church is located at 1919 Lisbon Rd. Seniors to meet

AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park. The board of directors will convene at 10 a.m. Tickets will be on sale for the annual picnic at the Hasty Community Center on Wednesday, Aug. 18, with the New Auburn Seniors.

On July 21, the club held a chicken barbecue followed by bingo. The meal was prepared by several male members and the recreation staff. Joyce Poole, trip chairwoman, announced a few seats available for the Aug. 17 Carousel Theater trip and the New Year’s celebration in Leominster, Mass. Loretta Martin, Auburn Recreation Dept., an Arundel summer theater trip and a leaf peeping trip in October. Nonmembers are welcome. Attendance winners were Erma Gagnon and Marion Gayton; pot of gold, Crystal Briggs, Adele Delmonico and Amy Huston.

Bridge play
