LEWISTON – Dollar Tree Stores Inc., the nation’s largest $1 discount variety store, celebrated the grand opening of a new store on Saturday, July 24.

Officially opening for business on July 15, the new store is located in Shaw’s Plaza Center, 1035 Lisbon St., and it is the fifth Dollar Tree to open in Maine. Shoppers were offered a variety of items for a dollar as part of the grand opening event.

The company’s rapid expansion within the dollar store marketplace has been fueled by larger store formats and a single price-point strategy.

The Lewiston Dollar Tree store is a large format store, with 19,765 square feet. Sixty-nine percent of all U.S. households shop dollar stores. More than one-third of all Americans now visit a dollar store each month, according to company research.
