PARIS – The Ladies Circle of the First Congregational Church will host a public baked bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 30, at the church at 17 East Main St, South Paris.Admission is $6 for adults; $3 for children under age 12.
Tea party
PARIS – Peter Rabbit’s Tea Party will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the McLaughlin Foundation Garden and Horticultural Center, 97 Main St. The foundation invites people to enjoy a relaxed high tea in a garden setting accompanied by readings from Beatrix Potter’s classic tale of Peter Rabbit. There will be chamomile tea, fresh baked scones, cream and blackberries. Children are invited to bring their favorite adults and a cherished friend – a Peter Rabbit, Raggedy Anne, Winnie the Pooh, or other favorite – to tea. Cost is $5, and reservations are required. Country music
SCARBOROUGH – The Maine Country Music Association will hold its annual picnic from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Bud’s, 27 Running Hill Road, Scarborough. There will be entertainment and food. Baskets at garden
PARIS – The McLaughlin Garden will host a basket-making program from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, with teacher Karen Ellis. Cost of $40 for nonmembers and $35 for members includes supplies and a picnic lunch. There is space for six additional basket makers. Registration is required and may be arranged by calling 743-8820. Family reunion
CANTON – The Appollus Jones Family Reunion will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at the home of Harold “Okie” Jones in Canton. There will be a potluck lunch at noon, not the lobster meal as planned. Participants are responsible for their own drinks, chairs and entertainment and their children. There will be 50/50 raffle in place of the auction.

Quickbooks class
PARIS – An introductory class in Quickbooks, a small-business computer accounting package, will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Aug. 2 through Aug. 30, at Central Maine Community College’s Kirk Hall Computer Lab 108.
Participants will learn how to set up an accounting system for a company, manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, create invoices and bill customers, print checks, and create financial statements. The cost of the course is $195 and includes a workbook. As a prerequisite, students must have a basic understanding of Windows.
