BRUNSWICK – Some Maine musicians will participate in a benefit performance for The Theater Project at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 31, in Crooker Theater, Brunswick High School on Maquoit Road.

Proceeds will go towards providing theater programs for young people ages 6 to 18.

Featured will be Matt Newberg and The Hurricane, renowned jazz clarinetist Brad Terry and his jazz quartet, and rising star Rachel Griffin, age 20, who’s created a remarkably original sound, as she strings melodies together, according to the Theater Project.

Also on the program is Middle Eastern dancer Jemileh Jeanne Handy, with accompaniment by composer-musician Alan Sharvarsh Bardezbanian.

Refreshments will be provided and gift certificates for dinners at area restaurants will be raffled.

Spearheading the performance is Molly Haley, 18, a recent graduate of Brunswick High School and a member of The Theater Project Young Company. Haley and Young Company member, Elise Fitzgerald, will be masters of ceremonies.

All tickets for the gala benefit are $30. For reservations, call 729-8584 or e-mail boxoffice@theaterproject.com. Tickets are also available at the Gulf of Maine Bookstore, Macbeans Music and Bull Moose Music.
