WATERFORD – About 16 people met at the arts and crafts building at Camp Susan Curtis for an informational and sign-up meeting for the new Waterford-Stoneham Lions Club.
Bob Swett, district manager of the Maine Lions Clubs, opened the meeting with a welcome to everyone present and explained what the Lions are and what they do. They are an international group that is made up of smaller groups.
The Lions Club is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Members help support community youth, the elderly, build town parks and support local fire departments.
The next meeting and sign-up will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Wilkins House with a potluck supper. The group might meet in Stoneham during the winter.
