PEYNIER, France – Madeleine Despres, 83, died at her son’s home in Peynier, France on July 12.

She was born in Rumford on Aug. 15, 1920, and had been a resident of Jay for 60 years.

Survived by her son, Charles (France); her brother, Charles Peillet (Greene); her grandson, Christopher (New York); her granddaughter, Heather (Rhode Island); and a large extended family (Peillet) in the Savoy region of France.
