RUMFORD – Marjorie McGuire, 91, of Andover, died Friday, July 30, at the Rumford Hospital. She had been a resident of South Main Street, Andover, for many years.

She was born in Clinton, on April 28, 1913, a daughter of Raymond F. and Nettie (Weymouth) Holt. She graduated from Goodwill School in Hinckley, and from Farmington Normal School in Farmington, with her certificate in education.

She taught at the Abbott Elementary School in Mexico, for many years and then for several years at the Andover Elementary School, Andover, until her retirement.

She was a member of the Maine Retired Teachers Association and served on the board of directors for the Andover Public Library. She was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed her bird feeders, and she loved her family and her favorite dog, “Friday.”

She was married in Clinton, on June 18, 1935, to the late Harvey C. McGuire who died in Rumford, on March 23, 1991.

Survivors include her son, Paul McGuire and wife, Robin Lee, of Farmington; four grandchildren, Marjorie McCollister and husband, Benjamin, of Canton, Michael McGuire and wife, Eileen, of Farmington, Megan McGuire, of Bethel, and Peter McGuire, of Farmington; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Holmes, of Shawmut.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane McGuire Seaward.
