LEWISTON – Raymond A Ouellette, 74, of Maxfield Road, Naples, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, on July 29, while surrounded by his four children, after having endured a five year long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lewiston on May 30, 1930, he was the son of Leon and Lucienne Martineau Ouellette. He attended Monfort Father’s High School and was a graduate of Saint Dominic High School in Lewiston. He received a degree from Auburn Business School and a certificate in drafting from Lasalle.
He married Theresa Mickalide of Lewiston on Sept. 22, 1979. She went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 27, 2001.
Considered to be a private man, loving husband, father and friend, “Ray” enjoyed spending time with all his family. Hardworking, dedicated and always finding a way to help others, he continued his father’s business, Ouellette and Son Construction for many years.
He was a lifelong, self-employed finish carpenter and cabinetmaker.
Working with wood was his passion. He built many homes throughout the area, including his first home in Lewiston and his recent home in Naples. He enjoyed traveling to various places for work and leisure.
In more recent years, he especially enjoyed traveling, sightseeing at the ocean and dining out with Lorraine Samson, his “angel.”
He leaves behind two sons, Robert and fiance, Angie, of Lewiston, John and wife, Francine, of Lewiston; two daughters, Joanne and husband, Bruce Steever, of Bowdoin, Cynthia and husband, Henry Aube, of Auburn; three stepchildren, Marie and husband, Roman Borys and their children, Michael and Christina, Bill and close friend, Aileen and his son Christopher, Angela and husband Alex Alikhani and their children, Anna and Andrew; a former wife, Jackie Ouellette and her children, Steve, Tom, Bob and Lisa; two brothers, Paul and wife, Jean, of Washington, Phil, of Carrabassett Valley; one sister, Fran and husband, Ron Elkins, of Arizona; eight grandchildren, Adam, Jason, Michelle, Atlee, Robin, Jahnalene, Daniel and expected newborn; three great-grandchildren, Evan, Cailyn and Grace.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeannine Larochelle; infant son, Danny; and his father and mother. He will be sadly missed.
