I recently attended a service at the new Maine Veterans Cemetary in Augusta where our governor was the guest speaker.
As he was leaving, I approached him and asked if we were standing on state-owned ground. He said we were.
I then asked why all our veterans’ graves had no flags on Memorial Day. The only information I received was to write him a letter. I have done that.
As I placed a wreath and flags on Memorial Day, I wondered how long they would be there.
Every veteran deserves a flag.
Our veterans should be honored.
This issue should be brought before our Legislature and every veterans’ family members be made aware of this very important issue.
One large flag is not enough.
With the recent state surplus, there are no excuses left.
