DURHAM, N.H.(AP) – A man suspected of breaking into apartments near the University of New Hampshire last summer and snipping clothes off women was arrested Sunday.
Jeffrey Gelinas, 28, of Weare is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Durham District Court.
He was arrested early Sunday morning after police were called to investigate a report of a man attempting to enter an apartment. Gelinas has been charged with attempted burglary, attempted criminal trespass and loitering.
Gelinas was the chief suspect in a string of burglaries last summer at UNH in which an intruder cut clothes off sleeping women. He was never charged but police say he remains the primary suspect and the investigation continues.
At the time of his arrest, Gelinas was on probation for a peeping tom incident in Manchester. Police say that probation has been revoked.
