RUMFORD – Volunteer work days at Black Mountain will be held from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday this month. Various projects need to be completed before winter. Those interested in participating are advised to bring gloves and work clothes.

Library reading program

DIXFIELD – The closing event for the Ludden Memorial Library’s summer reading program will be BJ Hickman and his Magic Show. The afternoon of magic tricks, for all ages, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6.

Lunch and Learn’

RUMFORD – The next Business Lunch and Learn Seminar will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at River Valley Technology Center, 60 Lowell St.

The topic will be “Insurance Plans That Are a Real Benefit” presented by Maureen Hedges. She is a certified employee benefit specialist and partner in the firm Employer Benefit Management.

The seminar will provide an opportunity for businesses to get answers to questions on insurance plans.

The cost is $8 and includes lunch. Preregistration is required and may be made by calling Beverly at (207) 369-0396 or e-mailing [email protected].

The seminars provide information to businesses and facilitate networking. They are sponsored by the River Valley Technology Center, the River Valley Growth Council and the River Valley Chamber of Commerce.
