LIVERMORE FALLS – Members of the downtown revitalization group reviewed the state’s plans for the Main Street north project Monday afternoon, checking out building and sidewalk locations.

The state plans call for little change to the road, which is Route 4, except for a wider right turn lane from Bridge onto Main Street. Town Manager Alan Gove said he was pretty sure the state will be buying the lot on that corner to widen the lane. His latest timeline is for the bids to go out in 2005, with construction in 2006. Funding is uncertain, he said. The plans may be viewed at the Town Office.

Work has begun on incorporating the revitalization group, and an organizational meeting will be needed to elect officers and name a board of directors.

Members said they are eager to remove the wall separating Main Street from the parking area and the Gazebo on the riverbank, allowing better visibility.

It was suggested that the work could be done as a fund-raiser, and that perhaps a couple courses of blocks should be left for a planter.

Two proposed beautification projects were to remove the unsightly high-power transmission lines behind the municipal building, and to paint the silver light poles in the downtown area another color, perhaps black.

Tom Roy plans to begin renovations on the former Falls Lounge building soon, and said he would like to offer his clients T-shirts that carry a town logo. He submitted a design and it will be included with other suggestions when the group meets at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23.
