AUBURN – The Auburn division (South) of the L- A Men’s Softball League will begin its playoffs next week. The four teams will be involved in a best-of-3 series, both semifinals and finals.

E.S.M. is the No. 1 team, Fast Breaks No. 2, Subsiderz No. 3 and Crystal Spring No 4. All playoff games are slated for Upper Pettengill. The semifinal schedule is as follows: Tuesday, August 10, 1 vs 4, 6:00; 2 vs 3, 7:30; August 12, 2 vs 3, 6:00; 1 vs 4, 7:30. The “if” games are scheduled for August 13 at 6:00 and 7:30. Finals are set for August 17 (2 games, 6:00 and 7:30), with the “if” contest scheduled for August 19.

The South champion will meet the winner of the playoffs in the Lewiston divisions for the overall Twin City championship.

The top 3 clubs in Lewiston’s North and Central Divisions automatically qualify for the playoffs. The other 5 teams will enter a consolation tournament on Saturday, August 7 at the Randall Road complex starting at 9 a.m. The tourney winner will be the fourth-seeded team for the playoffs that begin August 10.

Softball umps to meet

LEWISTON – The nomination of officers for next year is on the agenda as the Andy Valley Softball Umpires’ Association holds its regular monthly meeting tonight. The session is set for 8 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center on Birch Street.
