POLAND – Aubrey Lewis McCleary, 93, of Poland died peacefully at his home Aug. 4, and is now waiting for the great resurrection of the Lord.

Born in Poland, June 18, 1911, the son of Roy and Edith (Lewis) McCleary where he had been a resident all his life. He attended Poland schools. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church, where he served his Lord faithfully as head usher, assistant treasurer, trustee and in 2004 trustee emeritus.

In 1976, he retired from the Morin Brick Co. where he worked in the lumber mill and then at the brickyard. He was a member of the Ricker Senior Citizens group in Poland. For many years he volunteered at the Mechanic Falls meal site serving meals to the senior citizens in the area.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motorhome with their first drive to the West Coast. He also enjoyed working in his garden and planting flowers around the yard. Every winter you would find him cutting wood on his wood lot. In the evening he enjoyed sitting in his chair and reading. He will always be remembered for the twinkle in his eye and his great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Helen (Green) McCleary, whom he married on Oct. 13, 1937; a son, Russell McCleary, of Lewiston; daughters, Gloria Thiboutot and husband, Joseph, of Brunswick and Charlotte McCleary, of Poland; brother, Charlie McCleary, of Poland; sister, Edith Trafford, of Lewiston; stepsister, Verna Mae Tame, of Auburn; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-grandaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Francis McCleary and Pearl LaPointe; stepsister, Helen Gates; stepbrothers, Aubrey Trafford, Raymond Trafford and Charlie Trafford; and stepmother, Ethel (Trafford) McCleary.
