LEWISTON – Bates College history professor Steve Hochstadt, who teaches “The Holocaust in History: The Genocide of European Jews,” will sign his new book Saturday, Aug. 7, at Mr. Paperback in the Promenade Mall. The signing will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

He recently published “Sources of the Holocaust,” a collection of Holocaust documents for students in courses like his own. The collection includes an excerpt from Auburn author Judith Magyar Isaacson’s acclaimed memoir, “Seed of Sarah.” This new collection of original Holocaust documents and sources brings readers into direct contact with perpetrators and victims. Hochstadt’s commentary on each source outlines the historical causes and step-by-step development of the Holocaust, as well as continuing debates about its significance.

Several years ago, Hochstadt, a board member of the Maine Holocaust Human Rights Center, wrote the script for an Emmy-nominated video, “Maine Survivors Remember the Holocaust.”

Anyone unable to attend the signing may prepay to have a copy signed for them. FMI: Call Mr. Paperback at 783-2273 .
