A large number of spectators witnessed the wind up of the pool tournament last night at Baker’s Billiard and Pool rooms on Lisbon street. The final game to decide the championship of Androscoggin County was played between Lowell and Gagnon. The first game was totally contested throughout. Gagnon started out well but Lowell soon found the balls and passed him on the seventh frame and won out in the seventh frame by a score of 50 to 44. The second game was not so even as the first and Lowell appeared to have things his own way, playing a strong game which would be hard for any man to beat. He ran his 50 while Gagnon scored 29.

The Boston Red Sox will not return to Chicago for another month and even then it’ll be too soon so far as the Easterners are concerned. Not only did they drop three games in the Chicagoans but they were forced to beg and borrow gloves from the White Sox to play the final game today. Some one had broken into the Boston locker room and made off with 20 gloves. Police said two youngsters later were found playing catch with various gloves in a lot not far from Corniskey Park. The boys were taken to Deering police station and turned over to juvenile authorities. Their names were not disclosed. The Red Sox got their gloves back.

Claiming the distinction of being America’s oldest, continuous agricultural exhibition, the Skowhegan State Fair opens its gates Thursday for the 161st season. Fair officials report that exhibitors have reserved every space available in every building and hall and that the livestock pavilions wil be displaying a record number of entries in beef and dairy cattle, sheep, lambs, and draft horse stock.
