LEWISTON – Rodrigue L. L’Italien, 59, of 16 Quimby St., Lewiston, died Thursday evening, Aug. 5, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born Jan. 23, 1945, in Edmunston, Canada, the son of Ernest and Germaine Soucy L’Italien, and had been a resident of this community for most of his life.

He was employed as a molder in the local shoe industry all of his life.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and Jacques Cartier Club.

Mr. L’Italien enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, and woodworking. Most of all, he enjoyed camping with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Mae Daigle, whom he married Oct. 29, 1966, of Lewiston; his step-father, Gerard Soucy of Lewiston; his birth mother, Blanche; one son, Richard L’Italien and his wife, Patricia, of Poland; one daughter, Lisa L’Italien of Monmouth; four granddaughters, Lindsay Abrams, Kebrina LeClair, and Abigail and Rebecca L’Italien; five brothers, Charles, Don, Robert, Peter and Dennis; four sisters, Monique, Rachel, Michelle, and Claudette and her husband, Roland Tremblay, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
