OXFORD – Hannaford will hold a Summer Fest fund-raiser for the United Way of Oxford County today.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Route 26 store, there will be a yard and bake sale, book sale, race cars and drivers, and jumping house for little children.

Lunch will be a hamburger or two hot dogs, chips, soda and dessert for $3. There will be drawings for fuel oil, NASCAR driver stand-ups, racing items, car reconditioning and more items.

PARIS – The Oxford Hills School District announced that the Gouin Complex track and soccer field will be closed for resurfacing from Aug. 9 to 27.

Seniors tour to Cabbage Island

NORWAY – SeniorsPlus is offering a Cabbage Island tour Thursday, Aug. 12. It will depart at 10 a.m. sharp from the Oxford Wal-Mart on Route 26. Cost is $69 per person. To register phone (800) 427-1241. The trip will include coastal scenery and two steamed soft shelled lobsters on the shore.

Cabbage Island is a private island off the coast of Boothbay Harbor. The trip begins with a scenic boat tour of then heads to the island shore for the feast. Chicken will be available for those who do not like lobster or clams.
