AUGUSTA – Elizabeth A. “Betty” Irving, 71, a resident of North Monmouth, died Saturday, Aug. 7, at Glenridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Augusta, where she had been a resident for the past six weeks.
She was born May 16, 1933, in Hallowell, the daughter of George M. and Nellie Dobson Anderson. She was educated in Augusta schools.
She married Richard E. Irving of Manchester, N.H., in Gardiner on May 16, 1953. He passed away June 8, 2001.
Betty worked at Heritage Nursing Home in Winthrop for many years, and also volunteered in the kitchen at Monmouth Elementary. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four sons, Lance Irving of Monmouth, Douglas Irving of Augusta, Kevin Irving of Augusta, and Keith Irving of North Monmouth; two daughters, Rhonda Adams of Houlton, and Cynthia Irving of Augusta; a sister, Nellie Dupont of Bangor; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by eight siblings.
