BYRON – Dave Duguay of Byron has announced his candidacy for Oxford County commissioner for District II, which encompasses northern Oxford County towns.

Duguay said he is impressed with county government. He says he believes in the services county government provide to rural areas while trying to get the best value for residents’ tax dollars.

He said he thinks his experience in business will be an asset to the commission.

Born and raised in Oxford County, Duguay and is the store manager of Hannaford Food and Drug. He has been in the service industry for more than 30 years, developing skills in budgeting, management and leadership.

Duguay is a member of the Rotary Club, the MeadWestvaco Community Advisory Panel, the Dixfield Sportsman Club, the Mountain Valley Longbeards, the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, the National Rifle Association and the Professional Maine Guides Association. He is co-chairman of United Way Day of Caring and chairman of the Byron Planning Board.

He has formerly served as Rotary Club president, and treasurer of the United Way of Oxford County’s board of directors. He was also a member of the Rumford Finance Committee and the SAD 43 Board of Directors.

He is married to Patricia M. Duguay, who is the executive director of the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition. They have two daughters, both of whom are attending college.
