TACOMA, Wash. – Elsie Nurmi Wade, 69, of Tacoma, Wash., died Saturday, July 24, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Hebron, May 13, 1935, the daughter of John and Elsie Nurmi, she and her husband, Russell Wade, moved to Tacoma in 1961, but kept close touch with family and roots in Maine.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie and Ted Guntle, Douglas and Karen Wade and Toby Wade; brothers, Olavi Nurmi, of Madison, Oiva Nurmi, of Otisfield, Eugene, of Great Falls, Mont., and Edwin, of Pendleton, Ore.; sisters, Martha Flanigan and Barbara Payne, of South Paris; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; brothers, John, William Taisto and Robert; and sisters, Irene Kimball and Selma Mills.
