ORONO – Howard F. “Brownie” Brown, 82, died Aug. 9, in an Orono health care facility surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Rockland, April 30, 1922, the son of Clarence and Carrie (Tribou) Brown.
He was employed by New England Telephone Co. for 42 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31 in Auburn. He enjoyed hunting at his camp at East Kennebago Mountain and fishing at camp on Moosehead Lake. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in Europe and the Pacific.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Cecile; three daughters, Diana Crowley and husband, William, Gail Brooks and husband, James, Deborah Carle and husband, Kenneth; a son, Gary H. Brown and wife, Ruth; many loving grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve Rose. He will also be sadly missed by several dear friends who were fondly known as the “House of the Seven Gulpers.”
He was predeceased by his father, Clarence F. Brown; his mother, Carrie (Tribou) Brown; a brother, Donald C. Brown; and a sister, Elizabeth Grant.
