LEWISTON – Julia A. “Judy” Lgar, 86, of Lewiston, went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, Aug. 7, at d’Youville Pavilion surrounded by her loving family at her side.

She was born in Lisbon, on Aug. 11, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Florida Bosse Leclair. She attended St. Peter’s School. She was a homemaker and longtime resident of Lewiston for most of her life. “Judy” and her beloved husband, Gerard, of 62 years lived by the Bible principle, “True greatness is measured by how we serve others.”

She was a positive thinker with the gift of hospitality, and in her fun loving way, she always had the Scrabble board ready. She and Gerry traveled extensively and she befriended strangers everywhere, always offering a word of encouragement or a charming story accompanied by her warm and beautiful smile.

Her cherished faith inspired tender family love. She reached out to others loyally through her birthday book and traditional closing, “God bless, Jesus loves you, we do too.”

She was a devout member of Holy Family Church for 52 years, member of Association Canado-Americaine & Genealogical Society, member of Dames de Saint Anne Sodality, Senior Citizens Bingo & Exercise Leader, volunteer at Holy Family Church, volunteer at Garcelon School for children with disabilities, Horizon 55, Covenant 50, & AARP, member of Marchande de Bonheur, and the Tea Bag Club Card Players. As her family and friends fondly reflect on her selfless lifetime, a prayer of praise will be lovingly offered.

Survivors include her husband, of Lewiston; two sons, Richard Legare and wife, Debbie, of Maryland, Thomas Legare and wife, Carol, of Brunswick; three daughters, Beth and husband, Clive Mansbridge, of St. Augustine, Fla., Patrice and husband, Richard Raymond, of Milton, N.H., Therese and husband, Dennis, of Lewiston; two brothers, Paul LeClair, of Fallbrook, Calif., Bob and wife, Claire LeClair, of Ocoee, Fla.; five sisters, Ora McGrath, of Lewiston, Bertha Libby, of Lewiston, Irene Maher, of Lakewood, Calif., Connie and John Labonte, of Casco, Anne E. “Betty” Caouette, of Lewiston; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
