LIVERMORE FALLS – An informational meeting will be held Thursday on the new single-bus-run transportation system in SAD 36 for the new school year.

This year there will be only one bus run, for all students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The informational meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Livermore Falls High School cafeteria.

The first day of school for students in kindergarten through ninth grade is Tuesday, Aug. 31, and students in all grades will attend on Wednesday, Sept. 1. The buses are scheduled to pick up students between 7 a.m. and 7:15 a.m.

The elementary school children are scheduled to be dropped off at school in Livermore first. The buses will then head to Livermore Falls to drop off high school and middle school students.

Students will start arriving at the elementary school about 7:40 a.m., said associate administrator Jeannine Backus. School is expected to begin around 8 a.m., with children being dismissed between 2:10 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Elementary school children will be picked up at school first, then buses will pick up high school and middle school students.

Livermore Falls High School Principal Rod Wright said the first bell at the high school will be at 7:55 a.m., with classes starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m.

Wright said the middle school will most likely have a similar schedule.

Other school operations are also scheduled to be discussed at the Thursday meeting.
