PORTLAND – The Maine Patent Program will present a workshop for inventors and others interested in patenting inventions on Aug. 18. It runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Room 131 of the University of Maine School of Law-Portland, 246 Deering Ave. The workshop will address what types of inventions are subject to patent protection, the practical steps to obtain a patent, and how one can perform searches on their own invention. Thomas Maas, patent adviser to the Maine Patent Program, will be the speaker. He is a registered patent agent before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and holds a unique background in innovative research and development, business development and intellectual property management.
