AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union of Androscoggin County announces that the winner of this year’s scholarship is Amanda Irene Bergeron of Lewiston.

Bergeron graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 2004. She was active while in school and participated in mock trial, civil rights team, National Forensics League and played varsity tennis and varsity soccer. She was also a class officer and was a member of the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society.

Her community volunteer activities include St. Martin de Porres Residence and the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.

Bergeron plans to attend Emerson College in Boston in the fall and hopes to pursue studies and a career in journalism. She is the daughter of Claude and Claudeen Bergeron of Lewiston.

The WLU scholarship is given to a qualified student graduating from a high school in Androscoggin County who is going to study arts or literature. The Scholarship Committee is composed of Barbara Randall, Melanie Ness, Marguerite Powers, Mildred Bickford and Geneva Kirk.
