BANGOR – Mid-Maine Communications is the newest telecommunications company to offer high-speed Internet and local phone services to Lewiston residences.
The company began offering its expanded services July 1 after market studies showed there were potentially 22,000 customers in Lewiston who could buy the service. Mid-Maine already offers long-distance phone service in Lewiston.
“We already had a business service in Lewiston that has been one of our most successful markets, so the thought was to offer residential service there as well,” said Rebecca Loveland, spokeswoman for the Bangor-based company.
The new service bundle offers Internet speeds up to 1 megabit per second, round-the-clock customer support, local and long-distance telephone services with calling features, and the option for customers to keep their existing telephone numbers.
Mid-Maine already provides similar services to residents in Orono, Newport, Levant, Plymouth, West Enfield and Kenduskeag, and plans to expand services in Bangor, Portland, Belfast, Augusta and Waterville by late fall.
