CHESTERVILLE – The Chesterville Parade and Field Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, with the parade beginning at 10 a.m. followed by festivities at Town Hall. The parade theme is “Hooray For Hollywood.”
More information about the parade may be obtained by calling 897-4907. Other activities include games and music by Silv’ry Seasons, a community pig roast for $5, horseshoes, skillet toss, log toss and yard sale.

Wildlife rehabilitation
RANGELEY – There will be a presentation on wildlife rehabilitation at the Wilhelm Reich Museum at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at the sheltered classroom, as part of the Natural Science Program’s nature workshops. Donna Bogardus, a bird and small mammal rehabilitator in Farmington, will discuss her experiences with injured and orphaned wildlife, what to do if you find them, and how to provide the correct habitat. She will also discuss how to attract songbirds by enhancing one’s backyard, especially using native plants.
This will be an outdoor presentation, and some walking of the museum trails may be involved. It is a free workshop, and all are welcome. More information may be obtained by calling Becky Rose at 864-3443.
Fly Away Home’ to Mount Blue
WELD – The weekend programs at Mount Blue State Park for Aug. 13 and 14 include the film, “Fly Away Home,” shown at 8 p.m. or dusk on Friday at the amphitheater. Bob Kimber, a writer and canoeist, will discuss his northern Canada outdoor adventure on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the amphitheater.
Gospel music
FARMINGTON – Diane Muise of Auburn will present a concert of gospel music starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church. A professional singer for many years, Muise has toured extensively across the United States and Canada. She is presently performing 150 to 200 concerts per year. Muise presents a varied program of different types of gospel music interspersed with humor, caring and sharing of real-life experiences.
The public is invited. There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be taken for the Muise Music Ministry.
Support group for widows/widowers
FARMINGTON – The Widow/Widowers’ Support Group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the Walden Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. For more information, please call 778-4187.
Garden club
FARMINGTON – The last summer meeting of the Mount Blue Garden Club will be held Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Ann Kim’s perennial garden located at 113 Spruce Lane. The meeting and tour of Kim’s garden will begin at 5:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a box supper and a lawn chair and a plant for the plant swap at the end. Desserts and beverages will be provided. Spruce Lane is located off Maple Avenue, across from the Farmington Fairgrounds cattle gates.
Historical society
NEW VINEYARD – New Vineyard Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, in the Historical Room. Larry Parlin will speak about the histories of the Parlin and Baud families. The public is welcome to attend.
