Ranger program
GORHAM, N.H. – The White Mountain National Forest’s “Wednesday Night With A Ranger” program Aug. 18 features Conservation Educator Rob Fallon presenting “Leave No Trace.”
He will talk about simple techniques for protecting the land for the next visitors, including building a campfire without leaving a black scar behind, enjoying wildlife safely, and leaving areas better than you found them.
It begins at 8 p.m. at the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Pinkham Notch Visitor Center on Route 16, 11 miles south of Gorham. Programs are free and all local residents, campers, and visitors are welcome.

Lunch and Learn
RUMFORD – The next Business Lunch and Learn Seminar will take place Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the new River Valley Technology Center, 60 Lowell St. The session will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $8 and includes lunch. The topic will be “Insurance Plans That are a Real Benefit,” presented by Maureen Hedges, a certified employee benefit specialist and partner in the firm Employer Benefit Management.
The series are sponsored by the River Valley Technology Center, the River Valley Growth Council and the River Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Jazz dance workshop
RUMFORD – Professional dancer and choreographer Jacqui Young of DanzJam of New York City will conduct a jazz workshop for dancers ages 9 to adult Sept. 11 at Mountain Valley High School.
A session for ages 9 to 13 will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. The session for ages 14 and older will be from 1 to 3 p.m. It is highly recommended that all dancers who wish to participate have a minimum of three years dance experience.
Young is a resident faculty member at Northern Essex Community College. Her choreography has been featured on stage and television from Boston to Branson to Las Vegas.
Registration will begin Thursday, Aug. 19, and close Saturday, Sept. 4. The fee for each session will be $25 per person, and an official workshop T-shirt will be available as well. Enrollment is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
