JAY – Maine Drug Enforcement Agents will be the guest speakers when the Jay Police Department hosts its monthly Neighborhood Watch Program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the Community Building.

The presentation is for parents who want to know about the drugs that are prevalent in the area, according to the department. Refreshments will be served.

Program on wild mushrooms

RANGELEY – A mushroom walk is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Wilhelm Reich Museum, as part of its Natural Science Sunday Workshop series.

Returning as workshop leaders are Michealine Mulvey and Ted Elliot, avid mushroomers and members of the Maine Mycological Society, an organization of professional and amateur botanists and mushroom aficionados.

There is no charge to attend. Participants may bring field guides and magnifiers if they wish. The program will begin in the sheltered classroom and continue on the museum’s nature trails to observe and identify many different mushrooms.
