The Palesky tax cap certainly has our city officials scrambling for where the dollars will come from. Both Lewiston and Auburn will be in a tough predicament if the tax cap becomes a reality.

Maybe it’s high time for the citizens of both cities to start thinking about consolidating some of the high-price departments, such as police, fire, libraries and schools. I think millions could be saved by implementing that idea. It has been discussed many times before.

It would be interesting if our communities on both sides of the river could vote on that idea, but it’s very doubtful that our officials would see it through.

Let us think of what we have already accomplished (we have elected two brothers for mayor).
