OXFORD – An Otisfield man was arrested Aug. 10 and charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Citgo station on Route 26, according to police.
Thomas McKeen, 30, of Swampville Road, has been charged with Class A robbery, Oxford police Lt. Jon Tibbetts said Monday. McKeen is being held in the Oxford County Jail, he said, and is expected to appear in court Wednesday.
Police said a man entered the Citgo gas station at Oxford Plaza at 9:40 p.m. July 29 and flashed a handgun at the attendant on duty. After locking the attendant in the bathroom, the man stole $700 from the station’s safe.
The Citgo attendant was able to dial 911 from the bathroom, police said. In addition, an outside witness followed the robber’s vehicle toward Alpine Street and recorded the license plate number.
No one was hurt in the robbery, police said.
Sgt. Rickie Jack said Monday that no money was recovered.
McKeen was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Aug. 10, Tibbetts said.
