AUBURN – Shawna Edwards, 14, of Auburn, will go to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., in March to represent the state in a national country music competition in her age category.

She recently participated in the annual Down East Country Music Association competition and placed first in the following categories: ages 13 to 16, traditional gospel female entertainer of the year, traditional country female vocalist of the year and traditional country female entertainer of the year.

Edwards also won the Horizon Award. She was called a 14-year-old singing sensation, impressing everyone who saw her perform.
