STRATTON – They’ll be dancing in the street and floating their boats at the Solar Blast Summer Festival on Friday and Saturday.

The Flagstaff Area Business Association is hoping people will help it raise $1,500 to $3,000 at the first annual festival, a Muscular Dystrophy Association benefit that will run the weekend of Aug. 20-22.

“The Stratton/Eustis area is well-known for its winter beauty and outdoor activities,” said Dianna Martin, chairwoman of the townwide event. “We’d like to showcase the area’s summer scenery and attractions while doing a good thing for a worthy cause.”

Schedule of Events:

Friday, Aug. 20:

7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Solar Blast Casino Night and live music; Boat race registration at Stratton Plaza

Saturday, Aug. 21:

10 a.m.: “Whatever Floats Your Boat” race, ATV/motorcycle Poker Run registration at Kern’s Inn, Weekend Scavenger Hunt

10 a.m. – 9 p.m.: Crafters’ displays

11 a.m.: Street festival, casting contest, street graffiti contest, raffles and games

4 – 7 p.m.: Benefit barbecue and street dance.

7 p.m. – 11 p.m.: Street dance and live concert by Groove Box Band

Sunday, Aug. 21:

8 – 11a.m.: Benefit Solar Blast Pancake Breakfast

There will also be an auction at Kern’s Inn. Items to be auctioned include: a vacation package to King and Bartlett Fish and Game Club, Sea Dogs tickets, Saddleback ski passes and local art work.More information may be obtained by calling Dianna Martin at 246-3333.
