JAY – A 19-year-old man was issued a summons Friday after a plate glass window on Main Street was smashed two days earlier. Derek Lee, of unknown residency, admitted to smashing the large front window of Scissor Wizard with his head about 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to police. Police Officer Roderick Small responded to the business at Main and Jewel streets when a neighbor reported hearing the sound of breaking glass. He found hair in glass shards of the window.
Small suspected Lee, who had been in an altercation at 3 a.m. the same morning near R-N-K in Livermore Falls. Small had assisted Livermore Falls police with breaking up the fight and called Lee, asking that he contact him. Lee spoke with Small at Jay police headquarters Friday and admitted to the incident at that time, police said. Replacement costs for the window are estimated to be about $500.
