LIVERMORE FALLS – Trustees of the Livermore Falls Water District authorized a survey of the lot at the office and garage when they met this week.

However, the proposed addition and handicap-access project for which the survey is needed may have to be delayed a year.

Superintendent Doug Burdo said bids for the job came in much higher than estimated. He said he and the engineer are working to cut all possible costs.

The survey is to be done by Clyde Walton of Fayette.

The board tabled any action on a request by residents on Parkhurst Pond in East Jay, the district’s secondary water supply. A couple had asked to purchase land abutting theirs so they might move their building back.

However, the town of Jay is working on a disputed access issue, and trustees felt it was wise to wait until that is settled.

In addition, Burdo said the district should retain control of the land within 1,000 feet of the intake. The landowner borders the stream flowing into the pond.

The district has received a $1 million loan/grant for needed work on Route 4, through Livermore Falls and into Jay. With $555,000 of that amount in a grant, Burdo is seeking other funding sources to reduce the burden on ratepayers.

The second-quarter budget report was approved. It found revenue falling behind expenses by $27,448.
