OAKLAND – The Count Basie Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, in the Messalonskee Performing Arts Center.

The orchestra will travel throughout the world this year to celebrate Basie’s 100th birthday.

The present-day Basie Orchestra is led by Bill Hughes, who sat in the trombone section for nearly 50 years and is keeping the great jazz sounds alive. The talented 19-member jazz ensemble with Grammy Award-winning proficiency and experience will take the stage in Oakland with its unique big band sounds.

Advance tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and students, and $18 for preferred seating. All tickets will be $2 more at the door. For more information, people can call 465-9135
