BRUNSWICK – Celtic harpists Deborah Friou and Julia Lane will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Brunswick Unitarian Church, 13 Pleasant St.

Friou of Brunswick, who has played the harp for more than 20 years, spent several years in California where she was active in the reviving interest in the Celtic harp through concerts, recordings and teaching. She has published several arrangements for Celtic harp and harp technique. She plays both nylon-strung and wire-strung harp, and teaches at the Celtic Harp Studio in Brunswick.

Lane of Round Pond came to the Celtic harp through her lifelong love affair with the ancient music of the British Isles. Also an accomplished vocalist, she accompanied herself with guitar for many years until she had the opportunity to play the Celtic harp. Her self-taught style has won several international competitions. She currently plays with partner Fred Gosbee as Castlebay.

Admission: $10 general admission; $8 for elders and students. FMI: call 529-5438 or visit www.castlebay.net.
