LEWISTON – Fernande M. Scott, 81, of 23 Spofford St., Lewiston died unexpectedly at d’Youville Pavilion Wednesday, Aug. 18. She had been a patient for several weeks at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and had been admitted to d’Youville Pavilion for rehabilitative skilled care Tuesday.

She was born in Fort Kent on Jan. 27, 1923, the daughter of Hilaire and Lauree (Theriault) Deschaine. She was educated in her home town of Fort Kent and later moved to Lewiston. She was employed at Knapp Shoe Co. for many years retiring in 1989.

She was a member of Holy Cross Parish. She was past president of the American Legion Womans Auxiliary Post 22, past president and longtime treasurer of the Lewiston Singles Club, and member of Horizon 55.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing cards and the company of her family and friends. Her eyes expressed the pure love and true joy she felt for her grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda and Ed Wagner, of Lewiston; her grandsons, Timothy K. and Jason T. Wagner, of Lewiston; sisters, Verna Voisine, of Biddeford, Kathy Simon and companion, Mike Nadeau, of Lewiston, Bernadine Walker and husband, Jack, of Auburn; brother-in-law, Roland Charpentier, of Auburn; and truly loved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Garland Dale England, her brother, Elmer “Pete” Dechaine, and sister, Mabel Charpentier.
