BRUNSWICK – The Alfred M. Senter Fund is a private charitable trust authorized to make grants to any public charity meeting the requirements of the trust document.

The fund was established by Alfred Senter and it was his wish that public charities benefiting from the fund be involved in promoting the cultural, educational, environmental and general health and welfare of the inhabitants of the towns of Brunswick, Topsham, Durham, Harpswell, West Bath, Lisbon and the city of Bath.

The fund especially seeks to support charities for which small grants will make a significant difference. Grants were made in 2002 to 19 charitable organizations selected from 56 applications. The total amount of grants made in 2002 was $154,000.

The fund committee is soliciting requests for grants. Applications must be submitted by mail with an original and four copies, and they must be received before Nov. 1. Applications may be obtained by contacting the Senter Place Management Office at 725-6610, fax at 725-6612 or e-mail at [email protected].
