LEWISTON – Area farmers and landowners in Local Administrative Area 1 and 5 will vote for their Farm Service Agency county committee representatives for a three-year term.
LAA 1 includes the towns of Livermore and Turner. LAA 5 consists of the towns of Topsham, Bowdoinham, Bath, West Bath, Woolwich, Arrowsic, Phippsburg and Georgetown.
If a person would like to have his or her name added to the voter list, call FSA at 753-9400, ext. 300. Nominating petitions must be submitted to the office on Goddard Road by Sept. 3. Ballots will be mailed to eligible voters on Nov. 8. The last day to return ballots is Dec. 6.
Diabetes walk
PORTLAND – More than 500 walkers representing local corporations, families, schools and organizations are expected to turn out for the Maine Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sept. 19 at Payson Park. There will be children’s games, entertainment and food. Onsite registration will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the start of the walk at 11.
CCC alumni
PORTLAND – Chapter 111 Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni will hold a reunion for all former CCC boys and guests on Sunday, Sept. 12, at VFW Post 6859, 687 Forest Ave. A buffet luncheon will be served at 1 p.m. at a cost of $8 a person. Programs at fort
AUGUSTA – Old Fort Western’s 2004/2005 school year calendar year “Guide to Pre-Scheduled Programs at Old Fort Western” is available. Programs may be scheduled by clubs, groups of all kinds, historical societies, civic and social organizations.
A summary of the brochure has been mailed to nearly 8,000 teachers, guidance counselors, curriculum coordinators, principals, superintendents and other educators throughout Maine.
