LEWISTON – Normand L. Poliquin, 70, of 277 Lincoln St., died Sunday, Aug. 22, at his home, where he was born, with his family by his side.

Born in Lewiston, Aug. 27, 1933, a son of Laureat and Lucienne Bedard Poliquin, he attended Auburn schools and Edward Little High School.

“Norm” served as a Master Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Diamond Machine as manager of sales and service for 21 years, prior to his disability on Nov. 5, 1985.

He was past president of the Lewiston-Auburn Night Lions Club, Ste. Marie Cadets and a member of the American Legion Post 22 of Lewiston.

Mr. Poliquin was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish and a former member of St. Mary’s Parish, where he served as Eucharistic minister, president of the parish council, past president of the Sacred Heart League and past president of St. Mary’s Credit Union.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Francoise Dumais, of Lewiston, whom he married Aug. 27, 1955; his daughters and sons-in-law, Roland and Suzanne Blais, of Lewiston, Gilbert and Pauline Dube, of Minot, Mike and Jacqueline Mathon, Todd and Nancy Gatchell and Jim and Mona Mathon, all of Lewiston; his son, Daniel N. and wife, Kathy Poliquin, of Minot; 17 grandchildren, Christopher, Steven, Matthew, Alicia, Makayla, Joseph, Jennifer, Nicholas, Ashley, Chelsea, Andrew, Jessica, Maegan, Kristen, Daniel, Girard and Amanda; his mother, Lucienne Poliquin, of Lewiston; and his brother, Robert Poliquin and wife, Anita, of Lewiston.
