AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will offer a high pressure boiler and propane/natural gas technician course starting in September.

High Pressure Boiler (ENT 022-21) will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 1 to Nov. 17. Students will learn the techniques to operate and maintain a steam generating plant in a safe and efficient manner.

The course is designed to prepare participants for the high pressure boiler operator licensing exam. The cost is $418 and includes the textbooks. Douglas Lothrop, who holds a first class engineer’s license and a natural gas and propane technician’s license, will teach the course.

Propane/Natural Gas Technician (CETP) courses begin Sept. 7. Basic Principles and Practices (CTP 001-21) will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 7 and 14. It is a prerequisite course for all CETP classes.

Appliance Installation (CTP 002-21) will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday from Sept. 16 to 21. Each course is $340 and includes the state licensing exam, which will be administered during the last class, and the cost of the books. Anthony Leclair, licensed by the Maine Propane and Natural Gas Board, will teach all three courses.
