PARIS – The theme of the 28th annual Christmas Parade will be Toys On Parade.

Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce officials said the theme was chosen from among dozens the Christmas Parade Committee received. Co-chairs Deb Partridge, former chamber president and recreation director for the town of Norway, and chamber Vice Chairman-elect Judy Green of the Chamber Events Committee, both said the theme will reflect the spirit of the season through the eyes of a child.

The annual parade is held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It will begin at 11 a.m. Nov. 27.

Chamber Executive Director John Williams said the parade is open to any business, nonprofit organization, civic organization, school group or other organizations or individuals. Registration forms for float entries may be obtained at the chamber office and information center at 213 Main St. in South Paris, between Bessey Motors and Littlefield Florist and Greenhouse. Awards and banners will be given to winners in the categories of large and small businesses, and nonprofit groups.

“The reason we start promoting the parade now is because of the numerous requests we have been receiving here at the chamber for the theme since early in July,” Williams said. “This is a very important event in our communities, and the people who work on these floats take this very seriously and need the time to plan, so getting the word our early about the theme is critical.”

In addition to local participants, fire, rescue and law enforcement units from the surrounding towns will be in the parade, along with the Kora Temple Log Rollers Mini Truck Unit, the high school and middle school bands, and the Silver Dolphins Marching Drill Team from the naval base in Groton, Conn.

Williams said the Parade Committee has been looking for additional surprise participants for this year’s edition.
