NEW VINEYARD – Deputies are searching for a man who broke into a convenience store Saturday evening and stole $120 to $125 in coins.
A surveillance camera at My Wife’s Place on Route 27 captured the man on tape, said Franklin County Deputy Heidi Gould. The security tape is being enhanced, she said, to see if more details are visible.
Deputies are also looking for an older model, red or rust-colored car seen in the store’s parking lot with two men sitting in it shortly before the incident. The burglary occurred about 10:15 p.m., Gould said.
The front glass door of the store was shattered to gain entry, she said.
Anyone who has information is asked to call Gould at 778-2680 at the sheriff’s office.
In a separate incident, Maine State Police Trooper Derrick Record said he was investigating a burglary at an abandoned house Tuesday in Temple. The house was for sale. No other information was available, he said.
Record said he doesn’t believe the New Vineyard burglary is connected to the Temple burglary.
He asked that people be vigilant because a lot of burglaries take place within view of other residences.
