OXFORD – The Honky Tonk Tailgate Party will come to town at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the Oxford Fairgrounds. The event features country No. 1 hit-makers Rhett Akins (“That Ain’t My Truck,” “Don’t Get Me Started” and “I Brake for Brunettes”); Chad Brock (“Ordinary Life” and “Yes”), David Kersh (“Goodnight, Sweetheart” and “If I Never Stop Loving You”); and Daryle Singletary (“Too Much Fun,” “I Let Her Lie” and “Amen Kind of Love”).

Each artist will perform, followed by a “tailgate party” jam session when all the entertainers will take the stage.

Brock recently cut some “monster songs” in the studio with former Country Music Association-nominated producer Buddy Cannon and his original crew. Kersh is co-author of a song called, “When I Look at You,” about his admiration for kids who struggle with abuse and neglect. It’s available for downloading on the nonprofit Web site, www.cowboysforchildren.com or www.davidkersh.com.

Singletary just wrapped up his sixth project, “Rockin’ In The Country” featuring “That’s Why God Made Me.” His album features Charlie Daniels and Rhonda Vincent, and a Singletary song called “She’s A Woman.”
